چکیده

The time dependence of a heavy-ion-atom collision system is solved via a set of coupled channel equations using energy eigenvalues and matrix elements from a self-consistent field relativistic molecular many-electron Dirac-Fock-Slater calculation. Within this independent particle model we give a full many-particle interpretation by performing a small number of single-particle calculations. First results for the P(b) curves for the Ne K-hole excitation for the systems F +-Ne and F +-Ne as examples are discussed.

The results concerning the e + e − production in peripheral highly relativistic heavy-ion collisions presented in a recent paper by Baltz et al. are rederived in a very straightforward manner. It is shown that the solution of the Dirac equation directly leads to the multiplicity, i.e. to the total number of electron-positron pairs produced by the electromagnetic field of the ions, whereas the c...

Perturbative renormalization parameters for heavy quarks ∗

Formulation of the heavy quark on the lattice, such as NRQCD[1] or the Fermilab approach with the Wilson-like relativistic quarks[2], requires perturbative matching with the continuum theory. Since the quark mass in the lattice unit cannot be neglected for these theories, the perturbative calculation is much more involved and have not developed as that for the massless case. We report the curre...

Effects of many-electron atom polarization in electron-hole formalism

As is known [1], for odd number of electrons the Hartree Fock method of self-consistent field gives the equation, calculation with which help is connected to a problem of diagonalizing a matrix Lagrange multiplier. It results to possible noncommutativity of a Fock operator with the operator density matrix (a projector on subspace of orbitals for electron in a atomic core) and, hence, to absence...

Periodic trends in indirect nuclear spin-spin coupling tensors: relativistic density functional calculations for interhalogen diatomics.

There have been significant advances in the calculation and interpretation of indirect nuclear spin-spin coupling (J) tensors during the past few years; however, much work remains to be done, especially for molecules containing heavy atoms where relativistic effects may play an important role. Many J tensors cannot be explained based solely on a nonrelativistic Fermi-contact mechanism. In the p...
